MÁS INFORMACIÓN SOBRE ENTREGA

El artista

Born in Indonesia, Rarindra Prakarsa sources his inspiration from his native country. Based in Jakarta, photography has set the rhythm of his daily life for over twenty years. He produced his first images in 1994, after his studies at the Jakarta State Polytechnic while he was working as a graphic designer for a local newspaper. The photographer places humanity at the heart of his artistic work and questions the relationship that we maintain with our environment, whether it be cultural or natural. He therefore brings a sensitive and poetic gaze to bear on the picturesque landscapes around him and on the lifestyle of its inhabitants, which he naturally relates to his childhood memories. Parallel to the production of images designed for international publications, Rarindra Prakarsa led workshops in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Russia to teach his practice and technical knowledge of the medium. A great pedagogue, he also organises artistic journeys all over the world, in his perpetual search for new encounters and visual sensations.  ... Ver más Ver menos

RARINDRA PRAKARSA

Sobre la obra

Passionate about naturalism, Rarindra Prakarsa strives to create photos as faithful as possible to the reality he perceives, so that the spectator can feel the same fascination as he does when faced with the grandeur of the Indonesian landscape. He likes to cite the work of Walter Spies as a source of inspiration, a Dutch painter who lived on the island of Bali in the 1930s and whose use of light, choice of colours, and representation of rural areas greatly influenced the photographer. Whether it be a tree, a river, or a waterfall, Rarindra Prakarsa uses the elements offered to him by nature to give a scale of interpretation to the spectator. The image Water Harmony was taken in 2011 in Klungkung, on the island of Bali. Children play, splashing one another near a waterfall and thus form a choreography with the movements of the projected water.

DAMIEN DUFRESNE

As Damien Dufresne says himself: "I let my hands do the talking". His approach is totally new in that it's at the crossroads of makeup, body art, artistic direction and photography. The resulting complexity, technicality and beauty are impressive. Damien Dufresne, a make-up arti...

ALFREDO SANCHEZ

Alfredo Sanchez was not predestined for photography. Born in Mexico in 1954, he studied law and took up a career in the private sector. “My free time was spent playing tennis, horse riding, and let’s not forget my favourite pastime: photography,” he says. Much later, towards the ...

PEDRO JARQUE KREBS

Ferocious beauties isolated from all context, as though they had been captured in their most secret intimacy, this is the remarkable artistic gesture of Peruvian photographer Pedro Jarque Krebs, restoring to the animals some of their stolen dignity. After studying philosophy at t...
