About the artwork

How does Andy Yeung express the monumentality of the architecture that surrounds him? Navigating in the Chinese megalopolises can be a difficult experience, particularly because the "Middle Kingdom" is developing rapidly and will soon have more skyscrapers than the United States. After a report on the density of Hong Kong, his home city, the photographer travelled to Shanghai and focused on the verticality of this economic capital. A city of the future, it appears futuristic in the image. Adjacent to the third highest self-supporting tower in the world, the "Oriental Pearl Tower", Huangpu River traverses the city and pours into the Yangtze basin. The colours of the Chinese metropolis, so exciting and vibrant, appear discreet, pastel, and entrancing, thus changing our perception of Shanghai and rendering it more peaceful.
