About the artwork

"Photography is not a goal but a means of getting involved in the harmony of the world," declares Olivier F?llmi, who spent a large part of his life exploring the most remote regions to capture their beauty and testify to the fate of humankind. He reveals what the media no longer does, in his opinion: that is showcasing world cultures and civilisations by photographing "worthy" men and women. We discover his travel photographs with fascination, adopting his point of view and marvelling at the world. "I press the shutter and experience a profound feeling of love." The dreamlike image Pagoda of Illusion was taken in August 2015. It represents a pagoda located in the countryside of Innwa, the former royal capital of Myanmar, where the photographer has travelled extensively, on a cart pulled by a tired old horse. This pagoda seemed to him to be emerging out of the inundated paddy fields below.

I am deeply committed to humanity and to this desire to transmit what is beautiful and good in humanity.
