About the artwork

A resident of Hong Kong, Nicolas Jacquet regularly makes trips to Asia and China in particular. During a recent stay in the south of Guilin, he became enamoured with the region?s landscapes, comprising thousands of small mountains in the form of very jagged peaks ; the karstic reliefs characteristic of Guangxi. Founded over 2000 years ago under the Qin dynasty, the city is well and truly one of the most well-known tourist destinations in the region. Once again, the photographer focuses on the light in the sky above the landscape, revealing forms and accentuating the depth of field. In the moonlight, the surrounding temples and pagodas reflect in the waters of the lake. The atmosphere is peaceful and magical, inviting spectators to contemplate the spectacle before their eyes.
