The artist

Matt Petosa grew up in Syracuse, a small American city in the state of New York. He studied fine arts before moving to New York City in 1986. He started working in a photo studio but didn’t wait long to fly with his own wings. He soon launched his career as an independent professional photographer. Success was immediate. He drew attention to himself in 1990 with the publication of his first project: The Man on the Street . The project was a collection of portraits made in the streets of Manhattan, presenting colourful characters against a glimmering background. The artist showcased the rich cultural diversity found on the streets of the Big Apple. The reactions were immediate; the photographer drew the attention of national magazines and the trendiest advertising agencies in the United States. Since then, many brands have entrusted him with the illustration of their national advertising campaigns. But his work is not limited to advertising; his personal art photography projects have been lauded by the media numerous times. His favourite subject is New York. Its architecture, locals, and scenes from daily life… Matt Petosa aims to capture the power, beauty, and colours of this magical place.  ... See more See less
