MORE INFORMATION ABOUT DELIVERY

The artist

Dutch photographer Lars van de Goor was born in 1964 on a houseboat in the middle of lush farmland, and here he grew up being virtually part of the nature that surrounded him. His first passion was music, joined by photography in 2007. Quote "In a way I am still composing". While influenced by romantic landscape painters, Lars’s prime source of inspiration comes from the mysterious encounter of nature and light, and the main theme of his work is trees. These he respectfully depicts in their old power and timeless energy. Lars van de Goor won the Hasselblad Master Awards in 2016 in the landscape/ nature category. Also in the prestigious Trierenberg awards he has won first prize and gold medal.  ... See more See less

“My main objective: to capture magical moments of nature and show its beauty to the widest possible audience.”

LARS VAN DE GOOR

About the artwork

A fervent defender of the environment, Lars Van de Goor masters the light that reveals the bewitching and pictorial character of the landscapes he roams through in the Gelderland region of the Netherlands. This self-taught photographer owes his talent to his patience and determination to capture increasingly striking images. “My main objective: to capture magical moments of nature and show its beauty to the widest possible audience,” he says. Transforming the ordinary into the sublime, his photographs are somewhat reminiscent of the Romantic paintings of German artist Caspar David Friedrich who combined his own state of mind with the representation of the grandeur of nature. “Painters must not only paint what they see in front of them, but also what’s inside them,” he affirmed.
