About the artwork

For artist Guillaume Dutreix, electronic music and photography are similar in terms of their creative process. Whether it be existing sounds to be harmonised through a synthesiser or raw coverage to be assembled using retouching software, the result is the same and the artist enjoys experimenting with these elements using a computer, like a chemist in a lab. Through careful work and an unrivalled degree of precision, he composes perfect melodies and images. When he takes photographs of urban landscapes for his Instagram account, Guillaume Dutreix already has an image in mind inspired by an emblematic site or an architecturally interesting building. He then waits for the opportune moment to go there, when the lighting conditions are flattering. While the photographer seems to perpetually reinvent the real, his points of view are intriguing: the Eiffel Tower looks like a Rorschach psychological test, while a play of perspectives emerges in the Montmartre neighbourhood, turned upside down.
