Esteban Toro Martinez lives in Bogota, his home city, but he is not often there. This Colombian photographer spends most of his time travelling and taking photographs of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. It was on the advice of his first love that he decided to take a photography course. And it was the right thing to do: from his very first practical experience, he knew it would become his profession. He then studied visual arts at university in Bogota and took part in “every class, workshop, and event connected to photography”. He gradually discovered the work of photographers such as Steve McCurry, Jean-Paul Bourdier, and Sebastiao Salgado who were to have a profound influence on him. He has travelled to over 40 countries across the globe and is one of the world’s most notable landscape photographers. Being keen to share his knowledge and passion, he teaches at a photography school in Bogota and regularly organises workshops with photography lovers from all over the world. “Photography is an excuse to live and to get to know people, places, and fascinating stories,” he says.
