Photo HIGH DENSITY YICK FAT BUILDING - Laurent Dequick
This 40 year old photographer is an architect by profession. There are signs of this in his work as it is first of all a reflection on contemporary cities and more specifically aboutthe proliferation of modern urban space. Laurent Dequick’s purpose is to accurately convey an impression of frenzy which results from a density of population and activity in urban areas: « Along the streets, the lights, the noise, the traffic, the swarms of pedestrians, the blend of smells, are so fascinating that no single shot can entirely capture it. Do choices have to be made? I don’t think so: I don’t want to… »To translate this urban life congestion into an image, the photographer does not shy away from the juxtaposition, superposition or inlaying of shots. With the same intensity he overlaps photographs representing architectural complexes, main traffic routes and people. He condenses the images like the city condenses the sum of its inhabitants’ lives. Dequick’s style is reminiscent of cubism in its execution close to abstraction andin his representation of permanent movement.

Photo KAMELEON - DAMIEN DUFRESNE
Damien Dufresne is an unconventional photographer: after building a reputation in the fields of cosmetics and advertising, working as an art photographer enables him to forget the rules of the fashion world. … 'Art photography provides me with real freedom; my imagination has free reign. I do not wish to be controversial but I stop at nothing. I follow my instinct. I create images that are meaningful and speak to me…’ … 'Drawing, painting and photography are a means of expression for me, to tell stories without the use of words, a form of language, a different way of communicating’… … ‘The technique is not an end in itself but a means of supporting creativity…emotion is the most important thing to me’ …. His strength: creativity. His uniqueness : texture and colour. His motivation: passion. Damien Dufresne has worked in Paris, Seoul, Milan, New York and Tokyo. He currently lives in Shanghai. Photo Villa Tiepolo - Aurélien Villette
Photographer Aurélien Villette questions the meaning and patrimonial value of ancient abandoned buildings. While the latter represent an era in architectural history, they also bear witness to the specific history of a country, a region or a civilisation. The remains left in these sites are the chronological markers of an era. Ruins become both objects of contemplation and meditation.
