Living in PlasticAbout this photograph
Phaedra Brody explores the difficulty one can have at times to fit in. This series of images, where a woman is living in what seems at first glance to be a normal house, but turns out to be on second inspection to be a plastic doll?s house, is quite emblematic of this. She has everything of the Barbie doll, even in her appearance, yet her attitudes are very real, not completely in tune, contrasting with the fakeness around her, and creating a breach that allows for a feeling of alienation to permeate the image.Read more Read less
