Fang Tong

Love illusion 3

Sobre esta fotografía

Seeking a subtle balance between the real and the surreal, Fang Tong leads us into the depths of her dreams, into the beginnings of a story that she has written herself. The photographer finds inspiration in the worlds of cinema and fashion. Her works are inventive and particularly well thought-out, scripting models whose absence of expression often reflects their solitude within the setting. While women bathe in the calm waters of a motel pool, a young boy calmly observes them. The atmosphere is peaceful but the characters seem lost in their thoughts. The photographs bear similarities to the works of American painter David Hockney or Stephen Shore's Uncommon Places series, celebrating the everyday life of America in the 1970s. Fang Tong's images were taken in an old outdoor swimming pool in Surrey, in British Columbia, Canada.
