I Believe I Can FlyAbout this photograph
These photographs were taken at a public airfield in the free zone of the American Edwards Air Force base in the Mojave Desert. The California City aerodrome is aplace populated by enthusiasts who live purely for their love of flying machines. It is here that I take the controls of the mythical Fouga Magister and that I take photos ofthe famous and gracious DC3 better known by its nickname Dakota.

Oliver Lavielle is a fan of the period between the ‘30s and the ‘70s. His world is full of jazz, swing, blues, rock ’n’ roll and a hint of disco. Untouched by the aesthetics of the period, his subjects are best expressed exclusively in black and white. These dynamic compositions are inspired by Hollywood style. As a world traveller, Asia and the United States have inspired him. As a private pilot, his aircraft photos express the intimate, special relationship that he has with his toys', as he likes to call them. Entering his world, is a little like travelling in time, and as Olivier is also a flight crew member for an airline company, only one thing remains to be said : ' Welcome on board! '
