GREEN IMPALAAbout this photograph
For Guillaume Dutreix, electronic music and photography are similar in their creative processes. Whether it be existing sounds to be harmonised through a synthesiser or raw coverage to be assembled using retouching software, the result is the same and the artist enjoys experimenting with these elements using a computer, like a chemist in a lab. Through careful work and an unrivalled degree of precision, he composes perfect melodies and images. His studio photographs using a flash require a lot of preparation. For the ?Wild Pop? series, he magnified wild animals in fashion shoot conditions, working on staging, lighting and colour associations. In this celebration of perfection, Guillaume Dutreix appears to reinvent reality, while also removing the bestiality of his subjects.Read more Read less

French photographer based in Paris, he was born in 1982. He attended a business school (option: entrepreneur) where he started his own electronic music label, Archibell Records. Musician in the band Teenage Bad Girl, he has produced two albums and performed in over 200 concerts internationally, between 2007 and 2011. His passion for music grew out of his training as a percussionist. He discovered photography through his grandfather, a very advanced amateur, who had his own darkroom at home. Second discovery in 2007, with the purchase of his first non-digital Canon AE-1. He recently took a postgraduate course at Les Gobelins in Paris to learn different photographic techniques.
