In the heart of the Land of Brandenburg, in Germany, the remains of former sanatoriums have survived. During the Great War, the Beelitz-Heilstätten became a military hospital for the Imperial Army then for the Nazis during the Second World War. After the defeat, the site was occupied by the Red Army and became a ?forbidden zone.? It was finally abandoned when the Berlin Wall came down. The site is a symbol. It crystallizes the history of Germany. Traces left in these places are chronological markers of history.
