Klaus Leidorf

Alongside his photographic talents, Klaus Leidorf is a well-known aerial archaeologist. Born in 1956 in Germany, he studied history and theology in Bonn before working as an assistant scientist at the University of Marburg in 1983 and later joining the Bavarian State departments for the preservation of historic monuments. With his aviators? licence in hand, he turned to aerial archaeology in 1988 and criss-crossed Germany from East to West, focusing mainly on the former border that divided the country during the Cold War. A multi-talented figure, he founded a publishing house that is now one of the most established in the field of archaeological literature. Besides this historic testimony to his native country, Klaus Leidorf has an exceptional artistic eye and produced aerial photographs from the window of his Cessna 172.
