CrowdAbout this photograph
In a style close to abstraction, Frank Uhlig transposes atmospheres which are his only subjects. The venues, actions and people are of little importance. The models, simple plastic figurines since that is all that is required, are reduced to their simplest expressions and are the role players in everyday situations. If the actions are easily identifiable, the shapes, reduced to essentials, become symbols and together depict a concept. The lack of focus and simplified shapes, that this new photographic language is based upon, enable viewers to interpret each scene. Frank Ulhig tells stories which are universally appealing and creates a universal photographic language.Read more Read less
